In 1914 it became the teaching hospital of China’s first Sino-American medical school. Today it is a ministry-run Grade 3A hospital with 3,500 beds and about 3 million outpatient visits a year.
Xiangya reports many national firsts, from partial auxiliary liver transplantation to single-lung transplantation and laparoscopic total pelvic exenteration.
