Founded in 1979, the hospital is Sichuan’s cancer prevention and treatment centre and the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, with about 1,590 open beds. Oncology is a national key clinical specialty.
It chairs the radiation oncology society of the Chinese Medical Association and runs the largest brachytherapy centre in western China; its IMRT, SBRT, image-guided and intraoperative radiotherapy are among the most advanced in the country, and radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal, cervical and oesophageal cancer is at international level. Its former director Lang Jinyi devised the classic seven-point dose calculation for nasopharyngeal brachytherapy.
