Shengjing Hospital grew from the Shengjing Clinic opened in Shenyang in 1883 and the Mukden Medical College of 1912, the first medical university in north-east China. It became the Second Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University in 1949 and restored the Shengjing name in 2003.
With 16 national key clinical specialties — including neonatology, paediatric intensive care, paediatric surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology — and nearly 300 intensive-care beds, it covers the whole life cycle from assisted reproduction to palliative care. Its neonatal emergency centre is known nationally, and it hosts Liaoning’s centre for foreign-related medical services. It installed the first PET-MRI in China.
