Founded in 1958, the hospital is Shandong’s provincial cancer centre, with about 2,840 beds, 45 wards and 2,300 staff. It combines surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted, immune, endocrine, interventional and traditional Chinese treatments in multidisciplinary care.
It has more radiotherapy machines, and treats more radiotherapy patients, than any other hospital in China — including TomoTherapy, MR-linac and Gamma Pod systems — and is building one of China’s first clinical proton centres. It is a sister hospital of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
