Founded in 1960 as Jiangsu Hospital, it is a Grade 3A cancer hospital with about 1,160 beds and 1,580 staff, and the technical guidance centre for cancer prevention, treatment, research and teaching in Jiangsu. The provincial cancer society, cancer prevention office and clinical laboratory centre are based here.
It is the Jiangsu centre for cancer biotherapy and precision-medicine clinical research and was among China’s first pilot sites for clinical gene sequencing. A Jiangsu proton and heavy-ion therapy centre is being planned.
