Founded in Beijing in 1954 as the Central Institute of Dermatology and Venereology and moved to Nanjing in 1984, the hospital is China’s national centre for skin disease, sexually transmitted infections and leprosy, and hosts the national STD and leprosy control centres and a WHO collaborating centre for STD prevention.
It has the most complete range of dermatology sub-specialties in China and leads nationally in rare deep fungal infections, STDs, bullous disease, vasculitis, skin tumours, severe drug eruptions and dermatopathology, seeing more than 3,000 outpatients a day. It publishes the Chinese Journal of Dermatology.
