Founded in 1945, the hospital is Beijing’s municipal Grade 3A dental hospital, dental school and research institute, with about 1,100 staff and 860,000 visits in 2019. It was among the first to receive four national key clinical specialty projects in dentistry: oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics and orthodontics.
Its Beijing key laboratory for whole-tooth regeneration and oral tissue reconstruction is led by academician Wang Songling, and it chairs Beijing’s dental quality-control centre.
