Beijing

China's capital has the country's densest concentration of top-ranked national hospitals, including leading centers for complex internal medicine, cancer, cardiology and neurosurgery.

Many of China’s national medical centers and research institutes are based in Beijing. For international patients this means access to highly experienced specialists, but also heavy demand: well-known departments can be fully booked weeks in advance.

Practical tips

  • Beijing has two international airports: Capital (PEK) and Daxing (PKX).
  • Major hospitals are spread across the city; choose accommodation close to your hospital to avoid long daily commutes.
  • Winters are cold and dry and summers hot; plan clothing for long waits in outpatient halls.
