Founded in 1956, the hospital was the first in Shaanxi rated Grade 3A and leads north-west China in medical technology. It has about 2,500 beds; urology (including kidney transplantation) is a national key discipline.
In 2015 it became the third centre in China to pass 4,000 kidney transplants, and it is known for liver and stem-cell transplantation, coronary bypass and interventional cardiology. It reported China’s first surviving abdominal-pregnancy baby and north-west China’s first IVF baby. It ranks No. 10 in China for psychiatry and was nominated in 12 more specialties.
